SHAMAR JOSEPH 5 WICKETS AT HOME, BUT SA STRIKES BACK STRONG

WI vs SA 2nd Test 2024

Providence, Guyana’s pitch proved to be a death trap for the batters, as 17 wickets fell on the first day of the 2nd Test.It is the most difficult wicket in this South Africa tour of the West Indies. This is an important series for both teams as it is a part of the World Test Championship 2023–25. Temba Bavuma elected to bat first after winning the toss. SA openers Markram and Zorzi had no clue how the pitch was going to perform. Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph struck early and picked both the openers.

Shamar Joseph, the rising star of the West Indies, proved to be lethal again, this time at home. He has performed well in Australia, made his name in cricket, and then had a decent tour of England. Now at his home, picking up 5 wickets is a great achievement. He is very lethal with his pace and swing. He will be a star in the future, like West Indies greats Curtly Embrose, Malcolm Marshall, and Andy Roberts.

After great bowling from Seales and Joseph, South Africa returned with the bowl after getting out for 160, and it was a complete disaster for West Indies batting. N. Burger and W. Burget destroyed the West Indies batting line. They ran through the West Indian top and middle order. At the end of the day, the West Indies are 97-7. It was one of the most difficult Test wickets to bat on this season. So far in 2 inning, we haven’t seen even a single 50+ score by a batter on this pitch. The top scorer for SA was Dane Piedt with his 38 not out. For the West Indies, Jason Holder is not out at 33.
